In Dornoch, Scotland, 1886, there was a Scotsman named John MacKenzie who was graduating from woodcraft and metal forging school. Unfortunately, the country was in a depression and finding work was tough. New emigration policy had sent Scotsman and women all over the world, and now the promises of travel came knocking on John MacKenzie's door.
Heading the call, he left Scotland to began his new life in Nova Scotia. John was profitable as a skilled woodworker and blacksmith. He was sought after to build wagon wheels.
Wagon wheels were highly technical. A blend of wood and steel. As a proficient local wagon wheel maker, he mastered forged steel tyres which lengthened the wheel's life and provided extra durability.
John was always learning ways to build and craft new tools. He partnered with a craftsman to make coaches, including, funeral coaches. Funeral coach building led to building caskets. Soon his sons were interested in the funeral business and chose to go to embalming school. They moved to Massachusetts towel
practice their new profession.
John MacKenzie was an industrious hardworking man and he found virtue in labor.
